Weblogs as an emerging genre in higher Education
Weblogs usage in higher education initiatives has many dimensions that reinforce serviceable notions of intellectual co-production .Weblogs assists students in specific content areas (including the sciences as well as arts, politics and literature. The value of weblogs in higher education assist the educators in introducing social constructivist notions in the context of the relationship among assorted media and various aspects of media development. As the weblogs have been evolving so quickly as a genre, that students can often recognise major developments during a course of a single semester .Weblogs provide a structure that recast limited text-based notions of plagiarism in higher education. They encourage distortions of aspects in intellectual production, emphasizing the most current and most easily –digested material .Classroom experiments with weblogs over the course of one/more semesters can be used to explore the development of a genre.

My experience with weblog is that it is an interesting process/technique in which I get to share my learning results with people I do not know .Anyone that feels to comment or add on what I have published on my blog is allowed to do so and in that way I get to learn something new from the comments. Even so far I have two comments on one of my posts and on the others I have 0 comments with around 126  pageviews which means my page is viewed and people do read what I write which is a good thing. I believe weblogs makes it easier for our posts to be creative enough as it is easy to publish all type of medias/resources (images, texts, videos etc.) when compared to writing using books and traditional web publishing .What I love about blogs is that they are accessible 24/7 you do not need a certain time or day to access them.

The effective usage of blogs must be improved in many ways in order to be a meaningful tool for students. There should be an act to protect students on weblogs from harassment and bullying via blog posting as other students will no longer make use of weblogs as they’re victims of harassment and bullying in weblogs. They could also include something that attribute towards listening and speaking, maybe an app that allows you to speak while on weblog and something to listen to then comment by the means of speaking. Because weblogs lacks of listening and speaking skills training as the activities are mainly conducted in text writing. Not all language skills can be comprehended in blogging or related course-work, especially in listening and speaking .Students needs to have speaking and listening skills in order to succeed in their studies.Teachers should make learning fun with the use of blogs so that it gains student interest.
