Matilda’s father speaks harshly to her in the second frame. Assume you were Matilda. Explain how you felt at that moment.

If I was Matilda I would get very angry and feel miserable and discouraged in terms of literature, and that would make me ask myself many questions like, was I a mistake? Are they forced to take care of me? What did authors do to them? Why so much hatred for books? .I mean what kind of a parent would snap his own child when asking for a textbook to read? Many parents would be very happy that their children are interested in literature at an early age, but I guess not Mr Wormwood. Parents sometimes can make one so angry to  such an extent that you want to back chat with them but then you remember the boundaries and the fact that you are talking to an adult not your peers. But deep inside you are fuming with anger and you just want to avenge yourself but don’t know how because of boundries. And getting snapped for all the wrong reasons increases the anger built inside her and if I was her I would want to do something drastic that will make the father to be off my case for a bit. Maybe spend two days without talking to him but doing everything he wants me to do like house home errands but I won’t say any word to him till he realise his mistake and apologise .
At that moment I would wish I could go to school  because when I am at school I would be very happy because they allow us to read books and encourages and motivates us to read even more unlike Mr Wormwood. I would try to think about school to ease up on the anger I will be feeling. In order to remove that discouragement I received from Mr Wormwood about books I would try to think about all the positive side about books, those moments when you read a book and already in your mind you getting ideas of what will happen next then encourage myself to even read more even though at home they do not like it, we cannot have the same interests we are different people.

The unmentioned might of a woman

This article is written from the point of view of a man .The reason why I say so it is because he says that the stability from a partnership incorporating the presence of a man as a formidable tank .By saying that he is praising the woman for being there for him.
The article reflects values and attitudes of a relationship. There is prejudice ,stereotyping or discrimination ,that is typically against woman on the basis of sex.In the article there is a sentence that says you are a woman and have powers that go beyond the ignorance of a man because “what are man to rocks and mountains ?”.There is appreciation ,as he says that you should be honoured and praised everyday as simply being in your presence is enough reason for celebration.Grattitude is there too, as he says that but I leave you with these words ,thank you.
I agree with the writer’s portrayal of men in the article .The article says that men hide their feelings behind well-built barriers made of emotionless expressions ,which are then mistakenly identified as power despite the fact  that by not facing their emotions ,they are unable to handle them when push actually comes to shove-leaving them filled with emotions which clouds their judgement. In this society that we live in it is well known that men are tougher that women and it is rare to see a man crying/sad.In this lifetime if a man is raped it is very rare to find that he reported the matter to the relevant people. The reason being what will people/society say?they will call me a sissy or a weakling if they hear this whereas it is believed that men are strong then he keep quite.Same goes for sexual harassment(sexual coercion) and domestic violence they are hardly reported even though some men report it but they are few.If you have been physically traumatised and you do nothing about that you experience flashbacks, depression, post trauma stress and others so it would be better if men would leave this stereotype of ‘men are strong”
I find the writer style of writing effective as he used the persuasive writing style .In persuasive writing we rely on specific details and examples for support ,however persuasive writing does not rely heavily on facts  .In the article the writer managed to express his opinion about women without relying on any facts but his opinion. He managed to be forceful and dramatic to convince the reader as he says that your ability to truly express your emotions without fear  is only a testament of how strong you are .He also managed to exaggerate the details about the article to affect the reader in a more emotional way than in an expository type of writing. When he says that I sometimes would look at you and see a thorn in my side – a pest who never stops provoking or infuriating my inner being with your endless questions and tiresome, meaningless conversations.

Weblogs as an emerging genre in higher Education
Weblogs usage in higher education initiatives has many dimensions that reinforce serviceable notions of intellectual co-production .Weblogs assists students in specific content areas (including the sciences as well as arts, politics and literature. The value of weblogs in higher education assist the educators in introducing social constructivist notions in the context of the relationship among assorted media and various aspects of media development. As the weblogs have been evolving so quickly as a genre, that students can often recognise major developments during a course of a single semester .Weblogs provide a structure that recast limited text-based notions of plagiarism in higher education. They encourage distortions of aspects in intellectual production, emphasizing the most current and most easily –digested material .Classroom experiments with weblogs over the course of one/more semesters can be used to explore the development of a genre.

My experience with weblog is that it is an interesting process/technique in which I get to share my learning results with people I do not know .Anyone that feels to comment or add on what I have published on my blog is allowed to do so and in that way I get to learn something new from the comments. Even so far I have two comments on one of my posts and on the others I have 0 comments with around 126  pageviews which means my page is viewed and people do read what I write which is a good thing. I believe weblogs makes it easier for our posts to be creative enough as it is easy to publish all type of medias/resources (images, texts, videos etc.) when compared to writing using books and traditional web publishing .What I love about blogs is that they are accessible 24/7 you do not need a certain time or day to access them.

The effective usage of blogs must be improved in many ways in order to be a meaningful tool for students. There should be an act to protect students on weblogs from harassment and bullying via blog posting as other students will no longer make use of weblogs as they’re victims of harassment and bullying in weblogs. They could also include something that attribute towards listening and speaking, maybe an app that allows you to speak while on weblog and something to listen to then comment by the means of speaking. Because weblogs lacks of listening and speaking skills training as the activities are mainly conducted in text writing. Not all language skills can be comprehended in blogging or related course-work, especially in listening and speaking .Students needs to have speaking and listening skills in order to succeed in their studies.Teachers should make learning fun with the use of blogs so that it gains student interest.

unit 1.2. 12 August 2016

Service learning is a teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility, and strengthen communities. What I have learnt is that Students who do community service work learn that they can actually make a difference with what they do. This helps students better understand their own competence, leading to more self-confidence and a can-do attitude that can spread to their work and academic pursuits. Also that every party involved benefits. STUDENTS in service-learning classes can benefit academically, professionally, and personally. FACULTY can benefit personally and professionally from integrating service-learning into courses. COMMUNITY PARTNERS participating in service-learning can benefit in gaining additional human resources needed to achieve organizational goals. What I am still not sure about service learning is that is there any law or act that protect the community from individuals that want to use the community in form of labour in order to achieve their goals and the service learning only benefits the students and the faculty.
